Before I bought this laptop, I ordered a 14″ Dell (another i3 for $499 from Dell’s 10 days deal promo) but I canceled it later because they told me the laptop will take them three weeks to build it (!?). Thanks God! I found this deal in newspaper and went to a local OMX to get one (It showed “Bargain basement priced” in the OMX site). Since I have never owned a Acer laptop before, I kind of being skeptical about their build quality but I changed my doubt after I opened the box.
The package is kind of cheap but not the laptop. It is lighter than my ancient Toshiba and so far I have not sensed any heating issue like my mac pro and Toshiba did. The point is contemporary, fun and curvy but not as slick as high end HP, Apple or Sony (you got what you pay for). The spec is really excellent…It comes with a sharp and saturated LED screen. The keyboard setting is intuitive and the keys are very responsive. The touchpad is kind of cool and it is hard to find in a laptop in this price range. The weight is light for 15 inch comparing to my two-year-ancient Toshiba and even one-year-ancient Mac Book pro. It also comes with a quick Intel i3 processor, a DVD writer, a build-in web came, 4G DDR3-1066 memory, a 320 G hard drive, modem port, a Numeric keypad, Dolby certified speakers, 6 cell array, a SD slot, N wireless, Bluetooth, and a HDMI port. For this spec, it is even cheaper than building your own box. And, I am wondering how Acer making their profit?
So far, the only thing upset me is I need to removed a lot of sign from this computer. Especially, the sign located on the top of mouse pad is very sticky. I have not thought about a excellent way to remove the residue lacking messing it up. On the other hand, something cool is this laptop can me allocate to the make default disc for recovering the Windows 7 coming with it. It take me three empty disc and two hours to burn but I am very grateful. For a price tag, $499, I am very pleased with the speed and the spec of it. It makes me simple the pain to miss to a deal of SONY Viao ($569) two weeks ago and the cancellation of my Dell.
The bottom line is that I will not buy this laptop for serious gaming because the graphic is mediocre. Meantime, I did some research and found Acer is the less reliable laptop after two years of use. But, I am thinking to swap another quicker laptop after two years since I only pay $499 now. And I can bring it with me to go anyway lacking being worry about a scratch or two.

This is a fantastic computer. I am a student, but somewhat of a power user. I do a lot of programming and heavy audio file processing. I am also a SERIOUS multitasker (e-mail, word processor, Twitter, music, browser with multiple tabs, all open at once), so was looking for a machine that would let me do that.
The 4 GB of RAM and i5 processor are lightning quick. You won’t have to close iTunes before using other applications anymore, that’s for sure. Don’t forget to uninstall all the crap you don’t need before you get started – this will make it even quicker.
The screen is crystal apparent and very large. One con is that the screen is glossy. I prefer a matte screen because they show fingerprints less and are simpler to see from different angles. But no huge deal.
By the way, the casing is NOT bright blue like it seems in the picture. It is navy blue with a bit of shimmer, kind of like a car paint close. Very attractive and not at all cheap looking.
The keyboard is a nice full size, despite having the full number pad on the right hand side. There is a handy button next to the trackpad that disables it so you won’t get annoying mouse jumping as you type.
The one thing that REALLY annoys me about this computer is the extremely loud beeping noise it makes when you plug and unplug the A/C adapter. Even if you disable system beep and change the theme sounds to “None”, it still beeps. Just remember to mute the sound before plugging/unplugging and it won’t make self-conscious you in public. Acer should really address this annoyance, though.
But really, this is a GREAT buy. You won’t regret purchasing this computer.

I needed a PC that could handle all of my basic computer needs and be able to also handle my multimedia needs. The PC has fantastic facial appearance. 4 USB inputs, an i5 core processor, HDMI & VGA connections and a full keyboard. The laptop is fantastic. It is a bit bulky and since it only has a 720p resolution I cannot completely use the full screen of my 1080p HDTV. These facial appearance are the only reason that I did not give this laptop a 5 star rating.

I’ve never owned an Acer before, and would never hestitate to buy another one. I like having the keypad on a laptop. The screen is gorgeous and even the smallest text is simple to read. The touch pad is a small too sensitive for my taste, but you learn to change. I thought the array life was resonable, but don’t we all wish they lasted longer?
I will soon be in the market to replace my desktop and will definately look into another Acer.
