The standard aluminum electro-static trackpad has been replaced with a new glass Multi-Touch trackpad, which provides 40 percent more tracking area than before. Use two fingers to scroll up and down a page. Pinch to zoom in and out. Rotate an image with your fingertips. Swipe with three fingers to flip owing to your photo libraries. Swipe with four fingers to show your desktop, view all open windows, or switch applications. The entire trackpad surface is also a button, allowing you to both track and click effectively anywhere on the trackpad. The 15-inch MacBook Pro now includes a newly engineered lithium-polymer array that that lasts up to 7 hours on a single charge thanks to advanced chemistry, intelligent monitoring of the system and array, and Adaptive Charging equipment. The array is built right into the computer, eliminating the space-consuming mechanisms and housings that standard removable batteries require. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor

(An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system’s performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a quicker front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
The hafnium-infused circuitry–which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors–conserves even more energy, giving you more time away from the wall outlet. With 3 MB of shared L2 cache, data and instructions can be kept close to the two processor cores, greatly increasing performance and allowing the entire system to work more efficiently. And, because the processor cores share the L2 cache, either can use the entire amount if the other happens to be idle.
Video Processing & Output

Out of the box, it runs the integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M processor, which provides plenty of performance for everyday use with up to 5 hours of array life. But when you need turbocharged performance for the most graphically intensive tasks, the discrete NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT processor delivers–such as for demanding 3D games like Quake, Call of Duty, and Spore. like any other computer you could run, be it osx, windows, linux, what have you…this computer will allocate you to surf the web and read email (lets face it, thats all you use it for). the difference is this beast will cook your lap. i’ve never had a laptop (even other apple laptops) that generated so much heat. a laptop cooler is required if you buy this computer. furthermore the combo trackpad/mouse button is an utter disaster. i don’t know anyone who really likes it.

Here I ordered the item as advertised with Snow Leopard, and it arrives with the OLD operating system. I feel cheated and there is no way to get it back to Amazon from South Africa AT THERE COST. I’ve paid for the item, and Amazon makes a HUGE error.

I have both PC’s and Macs. I have always loved my mac’s. But buying this laptop was a mistake. I want to reckon it was just one lemon, but my daughter bought one about a year ago and it has been taken in for service a couple times and it makes horrible noises that the apple repair person can’t seem to hear. My MacBook Pro is just falling apart. It has never worked right always freezing up, way to hot and array’s going terrible. The gorgeous exterior is coming off. I don’t know what happened to apple. My daughter had a 13″ apple laptop that was fantastic for years. We had a couple imac’s over the years with no problems. I am now looking for a desktop and want to trust Apple products but for the $$$ I am going to go PC. My husband and other daughter both have HP laptops and they are so much better in every way (like they work) than the MacBook Pro. I was alway’s backing Apple when it came to what computers to buy in our family, sorry to say there will be no arguement from me.

I’m a PC guy, I’ve owned PC for 20 years and done professional support on them for over a decade and I’ve never seen service as I’ve seen with the Macbook Pro 15″
The Machine itself is sleek and pretty, the show looks nice and it has a comfortable fit to it. The processor etc seems to do what needs to be done and does it well. It is but twice the price of a compatible PC.
That in itself wouldn’t be much of a problem. Until there was a problem.
My son sought after a Mac, as his first machine, since he was paying for it we checked out Macs and bought this model, he was very pleased with it until he opened up the casing yesterday and the show looked like the a squashed spider from a Garfield cartoon.
I gaggle the hour to the apple store and am currently sitting in it. I talked to a manager named Lloyd and a “genius” named Henry and they informed me that the hurt was our responsibility and that repairs would cost $1100. That is 70% of the cost of the machine and that price alone is more pricey than a compatible Windows 7 machine.
I have been involved in customer service for a lot of years and I’ve never seen anything so small sighted in my life, my son will be purchasing a lot of machines over the next 40 years, I’ll be purchasing several myself and have another son who will be going to college in a couple of years. As a technical support person I am called to recommend machines and companies. The enthusiasm to discard customers once the cash is in hand is beyond anything I’ve ever seen in my life.
I’m worried that slick media and excellent actors selling a product is no replacement for actual customer service.
You couldn’t get me to buy an apple now with a federal bailout. And you shouldn’t either!
