Computer comes with an accidental hurt warranty which must be registered within 60 days. I mail the card to the address written on the registration card. It comes back undeliverable. Mail it again, undeliverable again. I call and they say “the address changed, but now you have to register it online to make sure we get it quickly”. They send me to a crappy website [...] which starts off by asking for my computer’s “Seral Number”. Fill out a bunch of online information, they give confirmation page which says I need to mail more documents to a different address. What a complete waste of time.
Other than that crap, I like the computer.

I’m truly impressed with the facial appearance on this notebook. This is my newest notebook in 4 years. How thrilling it is to know that this notebook has the new I5 processor by the side of with newer technologies.
I installed all my programs into this beast from my older notebook and WOW….. that’s all I can say!

It’s a really quick and well designed computer, but within a week the bugs appeared. I’m left handed and Microsoft used to have left hand/right hand buttons. In their infinite stupidity they came up with a single button for switching mouse sides. After switching the finger pad would answer with a menu every time you touched it. Called ASUS, who by the way does NOT give you their phone # in the packaging and the one on their website is on your dime. I got an 888 off the Microsoft website. For those of you needing help I wish you luck. I spent two hours with two different techs who kept putting me on hold (to read the manual). They had not clue one. I downloaded a driver and the tech didn’t recognize the text that appeared as the driver signature. It was a nightmare. Then after a few days the machine abruptly and inexplicably started “tink”ing after every mouse click. Nothing had been changed, no programs downloaded. I managed to turn off a few sounds in Sounds and got the problem mostly under hegemony.
I reckon it best not to buy this computer. It may just be a lemon, but I went owing to hell with an HP (NEVER BUY ONE) and vowed to get something truly efficient and reliable this time. This computer is not it. I’m looking hard at Acer as it has a excellent reputation for toughness and long life. Sony too, but they’re a bit pricey for what you get.

Ok. So I’m sitting here looking at the screen of this laptop which says “Recovery in progress. Please wait.” After a glitch-free first evening, today has been a total nightmare. This system has locked up multiple times. I reckon it’s having distress with Windows updates but not sure. So I finally called customer service, who instructed me to do a system recovery and call him back when it is completed. He then plans to guide me owing to disabling Windows updates. Really? He says he has had many calls with people with this same issue and disabling updates has worked. He tried to clarify that the system doesn’t need the updates because its new. Really? What about next month or the month after? So now I’m about to call back and try to make sense of this. Is this a Windows issue or an ASUS issue? Any person know?? I am this close (index finger nearly touching thumb) to boxing this thing back up.
