I have this model except lacking the webcam and with 3 gbs of RAM. I got it March 09. The mousepad tends to stop working, but suspending the computer (by closing the lid) and then bringing it right back on fixes the problem. Dell’s customer support is very unhelpful. I restarted my computer after having it for two months and it wouldn’t turn on. It said that there was a problem and it couldn’t self fix itself. My mom called tech support for me and they wouldn’t help her. Said she should reboot the hard drive. When she told them that wasn’t an option because I had stuff I couldn’t lose, they told me to go pay someone to fix it. I called a computer technician that I know and he was able to fix it for me. A virus got on and my virus program isolated a file needed to turn the computer on. While this isn’t Dell’s flaw I was very upset with their “I don’t really care” attitude. If you are going to sell a product you should be prepared to back it up.
But, for the cash I paid for this owing to Dell (I got it on sale for $649) I reckon it is worth it. But I’m sort of waiting for something terrible to happen again.
It’s fantastic for minor gaming (I play some war games on it to and it runs fine), internet use, school work, and it has enough space for my Itunes library and pictures.

I ordered a Dell Inspiron Notebook computer and received it on 2/06/09. I spent several hours trying to get the Internet, Mail, and Mcafee systems to work and finally called my local ISP tech. He worked with me for about 90 minutes trying to use teamviewer but the computer was so slow it didn’t work. On 2/08/09 I tried to call Dell Tech Support. They are in India. After going thru 5 minutes of menus and twice getting disconnected, I talked for about an hour with a Dell tech. He told me he thought the problem was in software and that I would have to pay to get it fixed. This computer came with Windows Vista and Mcafee Security installed by Dell. I did not attempt to install anything myself–just use the installed programs. I cannot for the life of me know why I would have to pay more when I already paid nearly $1000 for this computer. I now plot to return this computer to Dell. I will never consider another of their products.

This laptop is total crap. I wouldn’t have even given it 1 star! I reckon I had it for 3 months before the hard drive died taking all of my files with it. Luckily I still had a warranty so they replaced it for me after a few hours on the phone and them making me try a bunch of stupid things that didn’t work. Then shortly after that my memory gave out. When I called there they told me to reseat the memory. I did, and the laptop turned back on. I didn’t realize that one of the memory chips had burned out completely and it was only running on 1 GB. I should have had 3GB. I didn’t realize it until after my warranty was up.
They outsourced their customer service to India. Try getting them to know anything you are adage. Its like talking to a box of rocks. I’m not a computer genius but even I knew what the problem was. I argued on the phone with him for hours. They are a waste of time. I will never buy another Dell nor would I recommend it to anyone. Which is a shame because I have owned 3 Dell computers and they were all reliable. I reckon they are losing more and more customers with every computer they send out.

This is a terrible laptop.
1. Overheats
2. When you click on “shut down” the computer hibernates or sleeps.
3. Very slow
4. When I save, rename, or copy a file in windows examiner, powerpoint, word, exel, etc. the computer goes not responding then crashes.
5. When I am typing, I click on a place to type, after I type a couple letters, the computer moves where I am typing to somewhere else- very annoying.
Do physically a favor and do not buy this $800 piece of junk!

Had problems with this laptop from day 1. Motherboard crashed after a few months and after that the system clock needed a replacement. Lasted 3 years half of which were spent sending it to BestBuy where they added a virus to my laptop. After talking to Dell they said that I should’ve sent it directly to them, which I finished up doing anyway. Received my laptop and after a few months one of the screen’s holders started to come off with all the screws, etc. Next thing I knew the hard drive crashed. I have never had these many problems with a laptop before. Do not make the same mistake I made in buying this junk. Also, I bought the special edition translation which provided a larger array and more memory. Most terrible laptop. Never buying anything Dell again.
