I just bought the MD-7335U from the Home Shopping Network for $760 thinking I got a excellent deal. Once I went to Amazon, not only did I get a better model (larger hard drive) but I saved over $100. Never buy from HSN!!!

I just bought a Gateway MD7820U laptop online. The computer came in two days. The computer is very quick online and boots quickly. Vista has a number of security facial appearance not found on Windows. But, the computer has a number of problems. Because it is a 64-bit computer, I can’t get particular software for it yet, such as VPN. It is hard to know how to back up files on my jump drive, as it wants to back up on DVDs. Most importantly, the computer has a faulty keyboard that types in “c”s or “d”s or “b”s when I go the arrow keys. It has ruined several spreadsheets, email post, and Word documents. I emailed Gateway and their customer service is disgraceful. Even though the computer is strain new, I was told I had to pay them to get advice on the problem. Nice people, eh? Gateway really stands in the rear their products! Not! I reckon the Gateway executives should get a two-week paid vacation to a water theme park–Gitmo.

I truly don’t know how you can find a better laptop for the price. I’ve now had this for 6+ months and bought it in a store for $459.00. In my opinion, the keyboard isn’t as terrible as people have suggested. I sometimes have to repunch a button when typing but half of it is because of off-center fingertip residency on the keys. This laptop is FAST! I used Windows XP before and was reluctant to use the Windows Vista preloaded on the machine, but, I’m pleasantly surprised of the ease of use of Vista.
Pros: Speed of the Intel Core 2 Duo processor
16:9 screen
HDMI connection
Multimedia hegemony on the console
Aesthetically gorgeous machine
Cons: Array sucks (lucky to get thru a movie lacking dying) even with array saving setting in Vista
Only has 1.3Mega pixel webcam (better than nothing though)

Given the specs and the overall usage of my laptop, I’m very well pleased with Gateway’s product.

I am very satisfied with this laptop so far. I had it for about two weeks. Nice screen – very bright. The HDMI facility flawlessly. Speed is excellent and I got everything I was expecting with the buy of a new laptop.
But, Amazon doesn’t tell you that the LEFT multimedia panel is an option to BUY. I did not see this as an option on the Amazon site. So I call customer support and did LIVE CHAT and E-MAIL. I owing to 6 agents before being told this was an option I had not bought. All the others were suggesting I do a full system restore (losing all the installed software) or sending the system in for repairs.
Computer is excellent. Customer support is wretched!
