I bought a similair model to this & after the warranty expired, some metal clips used for vibration isolation fell out surrounded by the case & fried the motherboard. There are dozens of similiar posts elsewhere on the web. They have known about the problem for over a year & have done nothing about rather they aver it is user flaw.
In my case I only used it occasionly around the house. I have had other laptops that I have dragged all around the country on assignments with no problem. I would NEVER buy another gateway product of any Kind

the laptop is fantastic, but just try to buy an additional array!

None of them will have a record the model number….call them and you will find that none of them have any parts for the NV7923u….nor can they advise where to get them.
This is a BIG problem!….for those who need to use their laptop for more than 3 hours!!!
I am extremely frustrated, i would sure like to be able to use my computer… I should have bought a Dell. At least they will sell you additional components.

I bought this laptop because it had an Intel i5 processor and 17.3 in. show for the same price as a similarly equipped HP with an i3 and 15.6 in. show. After a quick delivery by Amazon the computer started to malfunction on the second day. The mouse pad would not respond about 40% of the time and when I would click on particular programs nothing would happen. After a second day failure I would not recommend this laptop. On the upside, Amazon was very simple to deal with for the return. I reckon I will buy the HP Pavilion DV6-2150US 15.6-Inch Laptop as a replacement. In the end Gateway gets one star, but Amazon gets five.

This Gateway laptop was a problem from the beginning. I bought a Gateway 17″ i5 laptop from Amazon.com. The laptop was the third Gateway laptop that I bought within 90 days. I had bought two other Gateway laptops prior to buying the third one from Amazon.com. the other two failed and were defected in the RAM memory. I gave Gateway a three strikes your out chance. The third Gateway laptop failed within it memory RAM. It first starts with slow response and flickering then freezing windows. It would give a couple alerts to reboot. I would turn of the laptop at night and in the morning would go to turn it on but the screen was black. The Gateway customer service told me it was static electricity and to remove the array and then reinstall the array for a reboot. After doing this a few times the system finally sends a failure in memory alert. I called the Gateway customer service and got the run around with people that aver they are techs but are just customer service idiots. I kept notes of the experience and then called amazon.com and they refunded my cash within five days. Amazon.com was they only relief from the event of another broken laptop. I had no problems with Amazon.com because they had fantastic customer service. I will never buy a Gateway product in my life and will tell everybody I know the same. Amazon.com was professional and responded correctly by taking pride and responsibility with the buy. I will use Amazon.com again but never again Gateway.

This laptop is awesome fantastic speed at low cost, and exactly if you like to play games like left 4 dead 2 runs fantastic on this laptop, the best part is that this laptop is hot free.
