Whilst gorgeous, the materials used in the construction of this machine are questionable. Within mere months of ownership you will note that the wrist pad, which consumes a large surface area of the machine, will scratch and scuff away leaving black plastic underneath. The reason being is that the outer skin comprises of VERY cheap plastic and NOT magnesium, carbon fibre, steel or any other speechifying quoted by Sony. The screen will also probably fail (check Google).
To top this off ALL Sony Vaio F and FW series machines carry a limited 1 year warranty. Limited meaning that if you buy a machine in the USA, THE WARRANTY WILL BE INVALID OUTSIDE OF THE USA.
WARNING: Do not buy this machine if you require a durable laptop (i.e. one that will last longer than 36months)
WARNING: Do not buy this machine if you are a traveller as it will not be repaired when it fails.
WARNING: Do not buy this machine if you are a non-US resident as it will not be repaired when it fails.
If you require the above, buy a HP as these machines delight in a worldwide warranty.

After years of having nearly every strain on the market except Sony I was nervous to give it a shot. I first checked out BBs but seeing how much I could save by going with this Amazon translation I was in. This Sony Vaio does it all. My favorite is the light up keyboard. Makes life simpler when its later in the evening and I want to go online. Blu ray playback also comes in handy. This is hands down the best laptop I have owned to date!!!

This Sony laptop is just incredible. It is everything I could question for in a laptop. Here are some pros and cons:
Pros:
- Intel Core i7 is lightning quick
- Backlit keyboard is very useful as I use the computer in the dark half of the time. Keyboard layout is very clean and well-spaced.
- Looks very classy and barely shows fingerprints
- Blu-ray disc compatible. While it’s not really needed, it is a excellent added feature
- HDMI output, huge and wide screen is excellent for watching movies
Cons:
- USB Ports aren’t laid out very ergonomically
- Screen is a small dim even on max brightness
- Slightly heavy
- Low array life
All in all, the pros certainly outweigh the cons. If you are able to afford it, then I say go for it! It is def a bargain compared to the overrated Mac that people buy just to say they have a Mac. Don’t believe that hype. This laptop destroys the Mac!

We now have two Vaios in the house, one is the last generation and this one is an i7. I like them both, though I do wish that some of the facial appearance on the before generation (browse lacking booting) were available on the newer system.
In general, it’s lightening quick. The only other thing that I would change is the distance and locations of the USB ports. I reckon there should be more than 2, and with them being right next to each other, using a air card can be hard if you have any other devices plugged in.
I like the smooth screen – it doesn’t show dirt or fingerprints easily, and for it’s size the Vaio is really pretty lightweight.
I was very impressed with how quickly Amazon delivered — I received it less than 24 hours after ordering!

Positives: Backlit keyboard, I do a lot when I am in the baby’s room in the evening when he is sleeping so being able to see the keys is fantastic. Having the full ten-key number pad is nice also. The compatibility of Windows 7 with my 3rd party software has been fantastic so far… so much better than Vista. Gaming is fantastic and the Blu-Ray addition is nice when traveling or hooking it up to your TV at home. The speed is fantastic, loading is quick.
Negatives: Screen brightness is low. If it is really bright out, it can be hard to see at times. Array life is weak, but it ordinarily is on most laptops I have seen. Heavy for a laptop, but that should be expected with the hardware you are purchasing. Lack of USB ports is a turn off, 4 would have been much better
Overall a fantastic PC for the price. I would certainly recommend at the $1099 price tag. I have had the PC for a month now, we shall see how I like it in the long run.
