I have a small Toshiba that is 12 years ancient, so thought I would like another Toshiba. Perhaps I would, but not THIS laptop. I sought after something smaller, so that part is my terrible. I sought after something lighter, and it isn’t as light as I thought. It does have a DVD so that is excellent.
The pad is hard to use, too sensitive, and you can’t “tone it down” – the cursor jumps all over the page to places unknown and I’m not even using it! I thought attaching the mouse would be “the answer” even though that sort of defeats the purpose of having a laptop. The mouse attaches at the side, so the mouse cord is always in the way. Irritating. And when you type, getting close to the pad makes the cursor jump out of where you are typing, so you have to go find it and kidnap it back to your app.
Window’s 7 isn’t near as wonderful as advertised. Windows 95 was a whole lot better, so why to they keep mucking it up?
All in all, I like the 12 year ancient one better even if it is heavier – at least it is smaller. I despise this new one.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas 2009. He went to use it for the 2nd time last night (with the first time just making a recovery disc and setting up e-mail) and it went to a white screen, with no option to do anything. We rebooted by shutting it off and on because Hegemony, alt, delete did nothing and it came back with vertical colored lines and no topic how many times we turn it on and off, it does the same thing. Probably less than 5 hours on this machine. Pretty much defective immediately. Now that it’s been more than 14 days since we bought it (Best Buy), we have to work owing to the warranty service, which means we’ll probably have to send it off and wait a month. UGH!! I’ve had my toshiba for 1.5 years with no issue, but this one is a bummer. Only problem we’ve consistenly had with our Toshibas involve replacing the power cords, a lot! Get the warranty, you’ll use it. Everything is so pricey when it comes to repairs.

I bought this Tobisha for my husband for Christmas 2009 and 3 months later he turned it on and it was just a white screen. We tried everything we knew to do and then I called the Toshiba service center. They told me right off that the computer was still under warranty. Then he told me that it would probably cost around 425.00 to fix it. $425.00 to fix a laptop that cost me $279.00. I questioned him what excellent was the warranty if it did not cover anything. All he gave me was the run around. So I now have a $279.00 paper weight. So my advice is stay away from Toshiba.

I bought this for my Daughter who is in the States, she likes it and it’s a fantastic help with her college work. My disappointment is that it hasn’t got a webcam and as this is also for Skype talk that’s BAD.
